Not a single international cargo ship at the Port of Seattle. The port is effectively dead. The last ship from China

will dock at a West coast port on the 29th, and the last Chinese ship will dock on the East coast around May 10th. After that, there will be no more shipments arriving from China. We're about to hit a level of scarcity at retailers nationwide that will make covid seem like child's play.
Don't believe me? Just take a ride on the ferry to Seattle and look south. The port is a ghost town.

Real consequences.

There a house in my town that still has Trump signs up. The person is also a FedEx delivery driver. I think that might be changing soon.

across the bay when I walk on the waterfront. Normally the huge container ships are lined up waiting to dock. It’s quite a sight. But I haven’t seen many lately.

Data from the Marine Exchange of Puget Sound, an industry association, shows the number of arriving container ships berthing at Seattle and Tacoma terminals from April 1 to April 24 was down 12% compared with the same period in 2024. Arrivals of ships carrying automobiles in April was down 36%.

Similarly, the number of container vessels arriving or departing from Seattle and Tacoma between April 1 and April 15 was down around 27% compared with the first half of March and by around 24% from April 1-15, 2024, according to a Seattle-area marine services industry insider, who asked to remain anonymous because they weren’t authorized to speak for the company.

And Smith, the amateur ship-spotter, says the drop is pretty clear to anyone actually looking at Elliott Bay.

Along with almost every other sector of the economy. This will not be a “Walmart shopper” issue, it will hurt most of us. Also, for those inclined, (not saying you by any means) regarding Walmart shoppers with a downcast gaze is very much a part of how we have come to find ourselves where we are now.

From Fortune on Friday
Logistics experts are warning that cargo volumes at U.S. ports are undergoing a precipitous drop. This trend is most apparent in Los Angeles, home to the nation’s busiest port, and one that is first to feel any drop-off from Asian shipping. The drop in container shipping is the latest sign the White House’s trade war is having a real effect on the U.S. economy, and one sizable group of workers is poised to feel the impact first: long-haul truckers.

Especially in these autocratic tyrannical times. Anybody who clicks on that link is associated with you and you with them.

Assume DU is watched. They have no right to, but that doesn't stop them. Try trimming at the question mark.

Port of Seattle is located in United States (USA) at 47.5981N, 122.3471W.
93 vessels have arrived within the past 24 hours and 20 ships are expected to arrive in the next 30 days.

If you look at the first 20 ships in port (limit without membership), most are US fishing ships or cruise ships or Ro-Ro (car carriers).

Not clear is if the container ships there are empty and there only to pick up exports.
