Fiendish Thingy
(19,674 posts)But its not a million.
Go look at photos of Woodstock or Obamas inauguration- half a million each, bigger than this crowd.
Impressive turnout in Boston, but lets not get carried away.

(3,197 posts)There was also a Pride parade.
Both WCVB Boston (ABC affiliate) and CBS used a million as crowd estimate on Google.

(3 posts)...which was the end of the parade route. The No Kings rally was merged with the Gay Pride Parade, which started in Copley Square, about a mile away. I was there yesterday along the parade route at Boston Common, which was also packed. If Copley Square, Boston Common, and Govermnent Center were all filled, along with all the streets connecting them, that could easily be a million people. That is an enormous area.

More than 1 million descend on Boston Common for Pride and No Kings rallies
The Boston pride rally and the No Kings rally organizers said more than 1 million people showed up Saturday on Boston Common to celebrate the LGBTQ community and democracy.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony kicked off Boston's Pride for the People march while a motorcycle contingent led a rally down Clarendon Street and through the Back Bay as hundreds of thousands of people celebrated the LGBTQ+ community.

Also in Boston on Saturday afternoon, demonstrators joined other cities across the country for the No Kings protests.
The No Kings rally is a movement targeted at the Trump administration, and specifically President Donald Trump. Protesters said Trump is bypassing Congress with too many executive orders and is creating a government that is no longer by and for the people.
I hope they can see that there are a number of us upset with how Trump is handling this country, and there is no normal anymore," said one protester.

(11,953 posts)Now that reminds me of the Women's March in DC, a literal sea of peaceful protesters.

(19,731 posts)I was born in a small Massachusetts town about an hour out of Boston. Moved to California when I was 16. Decades later, you can take the boy out of Boston, but you can never take the Boston out of the boy.

(53,230 posts)I finished the 2 hour march and then odd stuff sort of started to happen. I stood on an elevated level to try to see was going on since it was confusing everyone.
Basically, there were 2 protests about 1/2 mile apart in downtown. The other march ended up converging with the one I was in and a sea of people fanned put in every direction as far as you could see.i knew it would be massive due to the recent immigration/deportation issue.
Initially they sad "thousands of protesters" will show up. I said it would be at least 40,000 since that was the number at the 2017 Women't March and the atmosphere right now is much angrier. Now they say 60,000 attended. That figure could even be too low.
