I thought it didn't look right and certainly didn't make them look "tougher."

(1,096 posts)When I was at Bragg in the 90s. Ive never seen a ceremony in Class Bs or blues.

(1,096 posts)And the only time we played dress up was for dining-ins, the Saint Barbara Ball, and General inspections. Change of command ceremonies and the Divisional Parade were in combats and jump boots.

(2,759 posts)Most parades that I marched in required dress uniforms which required super shiny shoes and brass. About 1/3 of the marchers were either still drunk or hung over and ambulances followed us to pick up the ones that passed out. My last parade would have been in 1964 or 1965, I don't imagine the people doing the marching now are much different. The worst part was they were always held on Saturdays for the convenience of the big shots. Days that we could have been on liberty or, at least drinking in the EM club or playing poker in the barracks. (we also smuggled booze into the backtracks to improve the poker games).

Edit: Yes I watched it. It was mostly boring and the music was horrible but I wanted to see for myself how it came off.
