(121,504 posts)Gas went up 15 cents a gallon when Israel started bombing Iran. I wouldn't be surprised to see it climb at least as much in the next couple of days.

(888 posts)I just went through the past months texts and sent like 50 'Stop' texts in reply to them. It's freaking ridiculous how bombarded you get with fundraising texts once you've made a few contributions.

(58,303 posts)Anyone I could possibly want to hear from knows my EU number, therefore if it's my US number ringing, it's someone who does NOT know where I am. People who I am happy to hear from while I'm in North America know when to call, and give their caller ID.
This does not prevent my work address in Dallas being sold by one money solicitor to another, and so when I get my weekly FedEx packages with (among other things) my US mail. I get appeals for money from a wide variety of outstretched hands. Often, they sell their address lists so often, I get solicitations dozens of times a year from organizations I regularly donate to (Planned Parenthood or Emily's List, SPLC, Brennan Center, e.g.). Their software never gets updated, and so duplication is never rooted out. I am not (sorry) receptive to sending in a donation for the Democratic candidate for town dog catcher in Butte, Montana. As it is, any non tax-deductible donation costs me four times what I contribute, due to my being double taxed (USA-Germany). In other words, I have to earn $4000 for every $1000 I contribute, and it's not like my salary is as much as that of POTUS.
I know there is no use in my telling these people to stop. They won't. At least the recycling recepticles here get a lot of my attention.
