It won't come tomorrow, or next week, or even next month, but it will come here, home to roost. It may not be planes, or bombs, it could be a massive infrastructure hack, we don't know, but it will happen. And you know what, we will deserve it. No, not the innocents who will die and be injured in said event, but we, the country as a whole will deserve it, because we put a madman behind the wheel and let him loose with virtually no restraints on his actions. My hope and prayer is that the upcoming retribution targets those truly responsible, not the public at large.

Sadly, after such an event happens, our country will become even more of a hellhole, civil rights will be stripped, dissent will be brutally suppressed, and our republic will be gone, because we couldn't keep it.

If Iran wants to hurt the US in general, they will go after infrastructure. Cyber attacks or targeted physical sabotage. Which reminds me, I'll need to purchase those two emergency 450W solar generators.
If they want to target Political infrastructure to force a "regime change", they'll target attacks in DC, and maybe some of the more obnoxious red state capitols.
But they'll generally leave the cities alone, except maybe NYC or SF and LA as they're symbols of Western decadence.

If they want to hit military targets, they're going to go after major bases or remote offensive weapons sites, both conus and oconus.

That's how the wargames have played it out. As it is, there are very few scenarios with this particular situation where there isn't a prolonged, damaging conflict where no one really wins.
Unfortunately, it doesn't look as if either the US or Israel were able to do the critical strikes that would have resulted in a potential win condition, especially since no one of our former coalition is going to sign up to help the cheap USA knock-off *rump has created.
And we're going to end up the baddies in this one.
