While everyone is focused on the bombing

the disastrous cuts to SNAP and Medicaid will be passed and ICE”s kidnappings will continue at full throttle.

We are fucked.

There may be SOME Republicans who will metaphorically ask, "But who will 'bell' the cat?".

HOW WILL THIS COUNTRY PAY FOR A WAR AND ITS AFTERMATH WHEN TAX CUTS ARE BEING GIVEN TO GAZILLIONAIRES?

We can't afford this war even without tax cuts.

Republicans in Congress are apprehensive about re-election in 2026.

This country is not leaning toward coalescing to support a war with Iran. This is not Iraq via 9/11. (USA! USA! USA!)

Iran is a vastly harder nut to crack than Iraq, so no boots on the ground. The cost will be Navy and Air Force assets trying desperately to keep the Strait of Hormuz open. Good luck with that, and good luck filling your gas tank for less than your monthly mortgage.

It's a big country with few viable invasion routes. Really no viable invasion routes. And a populace who generally think we're assholes.

Not like Iraq with its virtual super highway from Kuwait to Baghdad. Anyone who'd even consider it needs to be locked up.

We all read about B-2 bombers heading west towards Guam.

Yes, tankers were flying east, and that was suspicious. But most eyes were pointed west.

The tankers were the real information.

Then there was the ambiguous "within 2 weeks" or "maybe as much as two weeks." But 3 days is within 2 weeks, and "maybe as much as two weeks" doesn't rule out 3 days--many reporters read "as much as 2 weeks" as "at least as 2 weeks." Wordsmiths.

Meanwhile ... No leaks.

Didn't think that possible of Trump or Hegseth. Or those under him.

My opinion: Donnie dumpster bombs Iran and this week the senate republicans who were holding out on the big bad bill will now vote yes. And, voila, another win for the global elite. This is being orchestrated by the morbidly wealthy. Everything Donnie does is about money. It would be interesting to track financial maneuvers made by GOP members on Friday.

AI Overview

+6
Financial benefits from the US involvement in the recent bombings of Iran's nuclear sites are primarily seen in two areas: defense contractors and energy markets.
1. Defense Contractors:
Increased Demand for Military Hardware: The escalating tensions and military actions have triggered a surge in demand for advanced military hardware and cybersecurity solutions.
Boost to Defense Stocks: Companies involved in the production of missiles, drones, electronic warfare systems, and cybersecurity services stand to benefit financially.
Examples: Companies like Lockheed Martin (LMT) and Raytheon Technologies (RTX) are identified as key beneficiaries due to increased defense spending and potential procurement deals.
2. Energy Markets:
Potential Oil Price Spike: The US attack on Iranian nuclear sites is expected to cause a rise in oil prices due to concerns about supply disruptions, especially through the Strait of Hormuz.
Benefit to Energy Contractors: Higher oil prices could be financially advantageous for energy contractors.

pure coincidence, but those prices will go up tomorrow (if they haven't already). I live in Houston and I know who makes money off this. Iran Parliament already voted to close the Strait.

This reverse Robin Hood slows economic activity and will reduce economic growth. This will leave us all with increasing Debt. The wealthy spend more slowly, and often just slowly shuffle the loot amongst their own ilk. The difference isn't a few percent, it's the top 2% can't spend their money once in a year, where the bottom 40% create close to 10 times more economic activity.
