media drone lulled you into comatose state, US media is crap. TV news is designed as entertainment; goal is selling ads

In case the media drone has lulled you into a comatose state, U.S. media largely is crap. TV news is designed as entertainment; the goal is selling ads.

They are complicit in making Trump and his pack look reasonable. They give his daily insanity oxygen. Hey, it’s free content, right?

Try print.

"Within the next two weeks" is the new "concepts of a plan." And media dutifully report his mouth diarrhea like it's major news.

By the 2000's news was 10-15 second sound bites ala tmz and et. Rarely if any indepth analysis.

Aside from the site-formerly-known-as-twitter, television is the worst medium for news and opinion. I'll even go further and say it wasn't all that great in the "golden age" of Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite.

By the way, bsky.social / bsky.app have also exceeded my threshold of irritation so I've started blocking them too.

Previously every story was reduced to a sound bite and played on an endless loop for the OAN and Fox audiences. Now all the major media outlets are now doing the same thing. On the internet monotonous fifteen-minute-long videos do the same thing.
Here on DU we see more and more OP's without more than a simple clickbait title that require watching a video to get to the point. So, nothing will happen for 2 or 3 days. Then it will be on to the next development. That's how it is with TV news designed as entertainment.
Obviously, some of us are not entertained. We don't watch their stupid shit. We don't watch their stupid ads.
