Mamdani leads Cuomo in new poll

https://nypost.com/2025/06/23/us-news/poll-shows-mamdani-overtaking-cuomo-in-nycs-ranked-choice-primary/

In its hypothetical initial round of voting, Cuomo’s lead shrinks to 3 percentage points, with 35% of likely Democratic voters supporting him compared to 32% for Mamdani and 13% for city Comptroller Brad Lander, the Emerson College Polling/Pix 11/The Hill survey found.

Mamdani finally surpasses Cuomo in the eighth round of the simulated ranked choice voting — 51.8% to 48.2% — in the latest poll conducted June 18-20.

I think this is the second poll showing Mamdani ahead of Cuomo, but the first showing him ultimately winning.

Rent freezes, free child care, free transportation, cheaper groceries and $30 per hour minimum wage. A couple both working minimum wage jobs would have a household income of $125,000 per year and see their costs lower on child care, transportation, food and rent.

Game changer for lots of working people and families

NYC, like all major blue cities, is going to be hit hard by Trump’s policies and budget. There won’t even be enough money to fund what currently exists in terms of transit levels, education, etc. Throw in a recession and the picture becomes pretty dire.

I hope people are realistic about what politicians promise.

They're spinning and flailing. He'll probably still win but they know the race is tightening and they know that Mamdani is simply more likeable than sex pest and serial sexual harasser Andrew Cuomo. The trolls are out everywhere on this one, too. Fanned out across the Internet with the "Mamdani is too far left for New Yorkers!" bit.

Masks off.

Can’t understand folks who’ve forgotten his Covid mismanagement either. If/when there’s another pandemic, he’ll kill more nursing home grannies again.

We can be better than this right?

There are good alternatives to Cuomo even if you can’t vote for Mamdani. Brad Lander is the city comptroller! Ffs, he’s more qualified than any of the others

How can our party claim to stand for women, when we're going all in to elect a serial sexual harasser - A fellow student of the Trump school of "Grabbing them right by the pussy!"?

All women please proceed to lay down under the bus. We promise we'll only run you over once, unlike Republicans who will back over you a few times.

There's no chance for the GOP to win the general so the "electability" excuse goes out the window. They apparently want Dems to keep losing and not adopt some of the left's popular economic policies that win even in red states.

It would be him, Eric Adams, and Curtis Sliwa. Sliwa got around 28% in the last election. I wonder if Adams will get some of that percentage this time around. Moderate and Jewish Democrats will likely vote for Adams.

I am not making any predictions yet, but do you think Adams has a chance in November in this scenario?

I think Adams is going to go the way of Sheriff Villanueva in LA. In the end. I also think Mamdanis populism is likely to unite most of the key competing groups in a way that only a true democratic populist can.

Whats the vibe you're getting from different voting groups on the ground there? Are you seeing much consensus or excitement for any one candidate?

The few Democrats here are mostly very moderate, so we prefer Cuomo. I did talk to one Republican, and she told me she's not voting for Sliwa again. She said she will vote for Adams.
