He is going to make a run for the White House in 2028....that is my guess based on his outward and strategic messaging for months now.

2. I know you aren't talking about his appearance, but rather his appeal as a future candidate...

--or at least leadership in the Senate. I agree.

That said, if I do think of his appearance, I think that beard has helped to give him the gravitas that was less apparent previously.

and what a time to do it. He does not hold back, or parse words...like on a debate stage.

he was the first elected Dem who went on offense and did not seem cowed. Very early on, he was on Chris Hayes' show saying that the Dems needed to wake up. This was when people I still admire like Clyburn were floating ideas like Biden pardoning trump (before trump took office but after the election). He was like a breath of fresh air. So I give him a lot of credit for that. I'm not in any hurry to pick a candidate, but he is definitely in my top two or three.

7. He's smart and as my Senator, I've had some issues with some of his votes. Laken Riley was the most recent.

This being an insurance state - back when I was with Organizing for America I had a few meetings with him regarding universal healthcare and was disappointed in his refusal to discuss the fiscal advantages but then Obama gave up even the public option - I dropped out of OFA and I have a feeling Murphy might be more open to it now. He did introduce the buy into Medicare Act so he's moving in the right direction there.

He's got great instincts on foreign policy - wish he was bolder but he's getting there.

He's very strong now in his moving closer to getting money out of politics. It's really become a big issue in his policy platform and that's a very big plus. He's great on guns. He's been an advocate of raising minimum wage. He's strong on veterans issues.

He has become very vocal on changing the Democratic Party - so I'd be really interested in hearing his platform should he choose to run. He's not as left as I am but he's also not as center as he once was -- he's serious and likeable and he'd be an interesting candidate on a debate floor in a primary.

For me - I'm all about policy and what someone will fight for. How bold they are and how willing they are to risk failure to do the right thing. So I'd definitely like to see more of Senator Murphy.

and was really good. He seems to be right on the issues and speaks up when it's needed. Lately he has been sounding the alarm about rising fascism. There was a post of his here a few days ago about a red alert moment that he highlighted.

Personal view: he might not be as charismatic a leader as we are looking for in a president, but his heart and attention are definitely in the right place, and we are lucky to have him. I hope he rises in Senate leadership.

I think he'd make a great president but I'm not sure that's what he's aiming for.

Oh, and surprisingly, he didn't go to Yale!
