NJ Advance Media reports today:

"Social media users are grilling President Donald Trump after the U.S. economy shrank to negative for this year’s first quarter, the Commerce Department said on Thursday in a final estimate.

The Commerce Department said the U.S. gross domestic product, an overarching measure of economic output, stood at a -0.5% annualized rate from January to March amid Trump’s ongoing tariff and trade wars. The new report, which has surprised economists, came after the department initially estimated that the economy fell 0.2%."

My bolding

This negative number should be a major headline today.

So it's not really new news. The only thing new is the level of the estimated drop was increased to -0.5%.

First release in April estimated a -0.3% decline.
Second release in May estimated a -0.2% decline.
Third and FINAL release in June showed a -0.5% decline.
