Last night, Eric Swalwell reminded MSNBC viewers why the House and Senate are not in session

It's because the House has the votes now to release the Epstein files. That's why no one is working towards a budget and we are about to go into a government shutdown. I think that simple fact would be a good one to repeat as these budget "negotiations" heat up next week.

But SOTH Mike Johnson is refusing to swear in the last Democrat who would be the deciding vote.

but that's why they don't have the votes and that's why he's keeping the House in recess. Or are we saying the same thing?

That would be how an adversarial press would frame it. But somehow they're only "adversarial" with Dems.

Knowing he never saw an "emergency" he didn't find a way to milk...
would he see a Government shut-down as an "emergency" and "save us" all by seizing what remains of it?
Maybe just wait 'til the shutdown and resulting privation inspires unrest and eventual violence leading to... seizing what remains of the Government.
Recent events have proven that there are really no confines that can prevent the incomprehensible from becoming the norm.
Maybe my tin-foil hat isn't tuned all the way down, but it's not sounding as "haywire" as I thought

That's not to say Johnson couldn't call them back into session, but they didn't go into recess this past week simply to avoid swearing in the newest Democratic member.

They want to government to shut down because it creates to the perfect reason to lay everyone off, no funding to keep them employed. They will then hire MAGA loyalists into every position in the government from the top to bottom. I believe that was a big part of project 2025.
