Hegseth spiralling out of control, acting like a dry drunk:

"They said Hegseth is becoming increasingly 'obsessed' with his own security and exhibits frenzied behavior, such as fidgeting and pacing during meetings.

"'"There’s a manic quality about him. Or let me rephrase, an even more manic quality, which is really saying something"' ...

"'Dude is crawling out of his skin,' another source said."

Classic symptoms:

Hegseth is an alcoholic who has not received proper treatment for his disease and is in way over his head at a stressful new job he’s not qualified for. His current behavior is textbook.

Or else he is still drinking and/or doing drugs.

If it's Bipolar, then manic episode could maybe explain the summoning of all the generals & admirals. tblue37 Sep 30 #10

He was infantry. “Drop!” means 20 push-ups. Now.

That’s the immediate punishment and public humiliation of the Army. It sounds crazy but that’s how it works….because, it works.

He may be “ate up”.

Whiskey Pete is definitely acting like a dry drunk, but he's also acting like someone who is in the midst of a serious manic episode. I usually give people the benefit of the doubt when it comes to mood disorders and receiving treatment for them, even if they are in positions of power and authority. However, since I have first-hand experience living with a bipolar loved one, I really don't like the idea that our Secretary of Defense (sorry, Congress hasn't changed the name) is not receiving adequate treatment for something similar. Someone--Susie Wiles?--needs to get a handle on this ASAP.

“Manic” behaviour is not the same thing as the DT’s or akasthesia, the fidgety restlessness described in the post- they are three separate, distinct symptoms/disorders.

Just another example of the risks and fallibility of internet assessment and diagnosis.

...and the alcoholic continues to do the things that drove him/her to drink.

To really address alcoholism, you have to get to the root causes. This requires self-reflection and personal work to change bad habits into good behaviors.

In Hegseth's case, it's probably that he doesn't know how to handle the stress of the job. Previously, he'd deal with it by drinking. But he can't and it's driving him nuts.

Worst choice possible to be Sec of Defense

(I will not call it Department of War, ever!)
