Regarding the Mormon hating shooter

Reported by The Guardian (9/30/2025):

"The suspected shooter in the killing of at least four people in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Michigan on Sunday bore a virulent hatred of the Mormon religion which he frequently referred to as the antichrist, local people have reported."

This tell me he was a Christian fundamentalist who decided to act out. Christian fundamentalists are, for example, all-in Southern Baptists, Missouri Synod Lutherans, and various other Evangelicals. How do I "know" who they are? I was one (Southern Baptist) in my early life. I escaped around age 30.

2. I think the failed relationship with the Mormon woman was central to the hatred.

He obviously wasn't so anti-Mormon when he was involved with her... obviously she rejected him and he went South.

9. Correct. He probably was MAGA but his motive was clearly something else.

It's not enough to say the guy killed a bunch of people and burned down a church just because he was MAGA (as awful and benighted as they are, most of them are not doing that). This person had an axe to grind regarding Mormons in particular (who themselves tend to be hard-core conservatives who voted for Trump by 64%).

11. My guess is that he was rejected by the friends and family of the woman...

He believed he had a chance with her but was thwarted by "all her churchy friends and family".

The meth addiction I suppose isn't a good thing either...

15. Actually, that's probably irrelevant to his motive.

His Mormon girlfriend dumped him and ever since then he's hated Mormons.

More women are taking a look at these guys ...
Coming up with a big NOPE !
(still depressing how many are still saying .. "great daddy material here!" "definitely a soulmate!" - )

Honey - this guy isn't safe to borrow your car (for a run to Walmart and Chick-fi-A), or watching your cat ...
Get a restraining order - then get a life.

4. According to reports, he once had a relationship with a Mormon woman in Utah

that ended badly. This is the more likely origin of his hatred of Mormons.
