The Republicans in Congress shut the government down
because they didn't want to negotiate with the Democratic party.
Not throwing the American People to the wolves in regards to health care and actually enforcing Article 1 of the Constitution confirming the preeminent Congressional responsibility to appropriate the nation's spending required too much intestinal integrity of the Republicans in Congress.
