Dear DU'er,
We are thirty days into the Trump Shutdown and the GOP is MIA. While federal employees go without paychecks and insurance premiums are set to skyrocket for millions of Americans, House Republicans are golfing and attending fundraisers instead of working to reopen the government. In fact, theyve only worked 14 days since July 25.
Republicans think they can hide from their constituents, maximize the pain this shutdown is inflicting on working people, and then try to pin the blame for Trumps shutdown on Democrats. We wont let them.
To ratchet up pressure on House Republicans, were rolling out billboards in six key districts calling House Republicans out by name for backing Trumps shutdown. Were making sure constituents in these districts know that their Republican Members of Congress are siding with Trump over working families:

This is one example of the billboards were putting up in GOP districts -- but we need your help to fund them. If youre able to pitch in, please click here to donate and help us hold Republicans accountable.

Over the next few weeks, millions of Americans are going to receive notices that their healthcare costs are set to explode in 2026. Many more will log onto online insurance marketplaces only to find that theyve been priced out of the coverage they rely on. Its the start of a healthcare crisis that could cause millions to lose coverage or take on new medical debt in 2026.
This is precisely what Democrats have been fighting to prevent. So far theyve held the line, but with healthcare costs set to spiral out of control, we need to ramp up the pressure on Republicans. In addition to our billboards, your donations will help fund all the other grassroots tactics were deploying to end the Trump Shutdown, including:
☎️ Driving tens of thousands of calls and emails to Congress pressuring Republicans to pass a bipartisan bill that ends the shutdown and protects healthcare access for working families.
📣 Hosting rallies, protests, and town halls. Across the country, Indivisible groups are hosting events including rallies and protests outside of GOP district offices and town halls educating constituents about the stakes of the healthcare fight.
📰 Publishing Op-Eds and LTEs. Indivisibles are using our LTE toolkit to call out their Members of Congress and highlight the direct impact the Republican healthcare cuts will have in their communities.
💪 Using relational organizing tools to mobilize our friends and neighbors. Through our Fight Back with Friends program, Indivisibles are spreading the word about the healthcare crisis Republicans are causing and getting their friends and family to join the fight.
Usonian - I left in just one Act Blue link, if you care to donate. I donated earlier.
There are no other links in this message, but you can find more at https://indivisible.org/ or my earlier posts, mostly in Activist Headquarters. https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1011

Good reading up to the last paragraph.
OK, so What does work?
Calling YOUR two Senators and YOUR member of the House. Going to a town hall. Scheduling a district office visit. Finding your MoCs at public events. Actions that take more effort on your part have more impact. Actions that take very little effort have weak impact. The original Indivisible Guide has more details on each of these tactics here. (12,855 posts)Actually goes to the sign? I have read a bunch of the donations weren't getting to what you give to why I stopped donating except to direct causes.
Is Act Blue one of the good ones? What percent goes to the actual thing you want? Finances are tight so I am being careful these days.

(22,009 posts)I use ActBlue because I can't find other means. And it uses Apple Pay, so my credit card is not exposed.
It must be doing something right because it's targeted by the "weaponized DOJ"
I defer to others in this matter.
DU uses PayPal (yuck, but Apple Pay works without divulging be Credit Card info to Pay Pal , without having an account there) and has a snail mail address for checks.

(40,392 posts)than an organization that promotes a singular message. I believe all of the dem candidates & a lot of the organizations use Act Blue to collect their contributions.
I don't know about misappropriated donations, but Indivisible is a good org to support!

He's been in office since 2007, won with 65% of the votes but now he has shrunk to 54% and his district was re-districted in 2021. Several candidates have emerged to take him on in 2026 but the strongest is currently the Commonwealth's Attorney in one of the areas where he is not well known -- Shannon Taylor, she can beat him.
