Someone Has Posted that the Epstein Files Have Been Released in GD

That is not true. It is a false post. Please do not be taken in.

If that had occurred, it would be a massive breaking news story in all media.

1. I interpreted the post as a "what happens when" they have been released?

But, it was a very confusing post.

Now, maybe it's just a misunderstanding of the English language, but that title is a simple declarative sentence.

I call them as I see them.

I'm calling out an incorrect statement in a post title. The OP has not returned to his thread, so I posted a separate post.

3. They didn't say they have been released. I read it as a what if trump is involved what is

I do not attempt to do mind-reading here. It was a statement, not a supposition.

...of the headline is a clumsy (given the context) use of the "subjunctive mood"

as though what he said was true. Now, I'm sure it was just a mistake, but it was a major mistake.

Language can do a great deal if used correctly. If used incorrectly, it can do a great deal of damage.

Epstein files are released
Trump is all over them and clearly involved. So what is the recourse?

To me it was obviously a what happens if

I knew the files had not been released. A quick question on google could answer that.

11. If that was what it said, then I'd agree.

It did not say that, nor did it indicate that a conditional clause was there.

I'm sorry, but some people on DU take posts literally. So, I'm calling that post out. I posted a reply in the thread, but there has been no response by the OP to any of the comments in the thread.

It probably needed the caveat. We see a lot of that here, though - headline grabbing - so I'm used to it
