This is the headline from a BBC News article dated 11/28/25 with a byline from Imogen Foulkes. The article notes about the UN Committee:
"The committee regularly reviews the records of all countries which have signed the convention against torture, taking testimony from their governments, and from human rights groups."
The report particularly points out the Israeli declaration of entire groups of Palestinians, including chidlren, as "unlawful combatants" which allows Israel to hold people for long periods without charge, access to lawyers or even acknowledgement that they are detained. It is further noted the following acts and conditions during detention:
" Palestinians, the evidence suggests, are regularly deprived of food and water, and subjected to severe beatings, attacks by dogs, electrocution, water boarding, and sexual violence. Some are allegedly permanently shackled, denied access to a toilet, and forced to wear diapers."
The conclusion of the report is:
"The committee concluded that such treatment "amounts to war crimes and crimes against humanity". It said evidence of a "de facto state policy of organised and widespread torture" by Israel was one of the acts which constitute the crime of genocide under international law."
As expected the response from the Israeli government is that it is all "disinformation" and that the Israeli government adheres to all requirements about prisoners and detainees. Like most everything and any findings any action will be thwarted if need be by the US at the Security Council and any action by the ICC/ICJ will be negated as well.
