VA-05: Spanberger endorses Perriello in comeback bid for Virginia House seat
Virginia Gov.-elect Abigail Spanberger (D) is endorsing former Rep. Tom Perriello (D) is in his comeback bid for Virginia’s 5th Congressional District, currently held by Rep. John McGuire (R).
“I’m proud to support Tom Perriello to represent Virginia’s Fifth District,” Spanberger, a former House lawmaker, said in a statement first shared with The Hill.
“Tom shows up, listens, and fights for what matters most: bringing down costs – of healthcare, childcare, and housing. For years, he’s shown that he has the courage and experience to take on the status quo,” she added. “We need more leaders like Tom in Congress who will hold Washington accountable to the Constitution, common sense, and the people of the Commonwealth.”
Perriello in a separate statement said it was “awesome” to have Spanberger’s backing, lauding her as someone who’s “always fought for hardworking folks to get a fair shot.”
