With so much hatred, cruelty, chaos, law-breaking and death happening since Chump slimed back into our government I've been watching and enjoying a lot of the Winter Olympics as a respite.
Just watched the most beautiful, deserved Gold Medal performance for Women's Single Skating, evah.
She is an absolute free spirt and joyful person and skater with wild hair coloring to go along with it.
She was genuine, artistic, cool and technically flawless and I'm so glad they gave her the gold!

(1,994 posts)I think Alysa's artistry and joy in her free skate put her over Sakamoto (who is only 17 I think) and Nakai (who is retiring).
Amazing performances by all!

(1,994 posts)She was the favored US skater and yeah, she really did break down after the short skate.
Alysa has been nothing but smiles and chill throughout the entire Olympics!

(1,994 posts)The clip is a profile about Alysa Liu. Her team mate Amber Glenn, from Plano Texas I think, was the favorite. She did not do well in her short skate and really broke down emotionally.
Amber ended up 13th after short skate. She skated excellent in free skate but ended up in 5th place.
Gold - Liu
Silver - Sakamoto
Bronze - Nakai
Amber finished 5th place

(2,440 posts)Alysa Liu had a remarkable comeback after giving up the sport a few years ago. Impeccable performance with a great attitude. Personally, I prefer grace over strength in womens ice skating. I cant remember the name or nationality of the skater in the ice blue outfit, but her performance was absolutely ethereal. Sadly, she made a mistake that knocked her off the podium.
