Given the backdrop of recent state terrorism against the populace there though, if this were handled smartly, perhaps the people could be inspired to take the mullahs down themselves if they know the USA backs them and has troops at the ready to help them.

But again, Trump + Co are violent Islamophobic dipshits, so I don't have that much hope for that outcome.
