It's SO RIGGED, SAD, UNFAIR, and maybe even FAKE! Probably woke too, the fuckin' BASTARDS.
French President Emmanuel Macron said his country will never take part in operations to open or liberate the Strait of Hormuz in the current context. (Trump responded, Hell be out of office very soon.) Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand said that Canada was not consulted prior to the offensive operation and has no intention of participating in it. British PM Keir Starmer has said the U.K. would not be drawn into the wider war.
And so on.
So, like an angry five-year-old whose friends refuse to come to his party because he shouts at them and never shares his toys, Trump exploded: [W]e no longer need, or desire, the NATO Countries assistance WE NEVER DID! Likewise, Japan, Australia, or South Korea, he added. In fact, speaking as President of the United States of America, by far the Most Powerful Country Anywhere in the World, WE DO NOT NEED THE HELP OF ANYONE!

(23,593 posts)Trump has spent the last year-plus mocking and belittling European allies, hitting them with tariffs, waffling on support for Ukraine and giving aid and comfort to Putin, threatening to invade European territory (Greenland) and just generally throwing his weight around like the belligerent dick that he is.
Then, without consulting or warning any of our European allies, he attacks Iran, causing them to close the Strait of Hormuz -- an outcome that everyone except Trump knew was likely. And then, he tells those European allies that they need to clean up the mess HE made, and that if they don't then they're worthless.
At this point -- given Trump's bellicose rhetoric, tariffs, literal threats of invasion, and now cutting off of energy supplies and other goods to Europe, further damaging their economies -- how long will it be before our former allies start viewing the U.S. as an actual adversary?

(22,918 posts)The whole "They should be GRATEFUL to help me" / "I DON'T NEED THEIR HELP" / "Why aren't they helping me" thing is just like his sending out thinly veiled threats and mob boss dog whistles to the Republicans.
It works. The overwhelming majority of them capitulate and give him what he wants.
NATO, meanwhile, says "Kiss off, Grampy," and he's unaccustomed to hearing the word "NO" and not being able to punish those who failed to snap into lock-step, call him "SIR," and sob uncontrollably.
