I despise TSF more than anyone here (okay, "as much as" ), but I believe the headline is misleading - many people will think this is directly applicable to patients. Sure a 6-month freeze might impact some patients, but is not the same degree of evil that is implied. (there is plenty of evil from this administration as it is)

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is placing a moratorium on new Medicare enrollments from home healthcare and hospice providers, as part of the Trump administration’s efforts to combat fraud.

8. Oh, no doubt it's EVIL. And some patients WILL be impacted.

There are other articles out there that go into how this will impact patients directly in certain situations. If I get the gist correctly, it is that some areas are already underserved and this will limit the ability to onboard new providers ... meaning new patients who might have been able to access these services, won't be able to.

It's just not the same level as "no one, anywhere" will be able to sign up for hospice under Medicare during the moratorium.

It is new providers, not new patients, who are impacted by the freeze.

Yes, it will impact patients who wanted to enroll in a hospice provider who is NOT ALREADY enrolled as a Medicare provider. But those patients can also enroll with a different (already enrolled) provider.

Trump is evil - but it isn't helpful to spread exaggerated information about anything he has done.

...but I'm not sure freezing new enrollments by alleged legitimate companies seeking Medicare and Medicaid money is the way to go. Long prison terms and deportations for existing fraud would be plenty of deterrence, imo. I'd actually like to see enrollments stay just like they are so they can act as "honey pots." Don't freeze enrollments; use them to catch the criminals feeding off of our public assistance to the detriment of the people who need it.

My uncle was in hospice care, well, until this morning. He was institutionalized his entire life and some of us (not me) got to meet and visit him over the past few years. His guardianship was passed to my youngest sister and a cousin after my aunt (who was in hospice care for probably a year or more) passed. Hospice made everything so easy for the family.

Before I forget, my mother was a nurse and worked for years at a facility that provided hospice care for AIDS patients back in the 80s.

I'm a compassionate person who can also be vindictive and I hope this oaf of a monster gets what's coming to him.

i dont have time atm to watch the vid, but i’ve repeatedly seen this portrayed on du as a freeze on people when it’s a freeze on new PROVIDERS.

24. You are correct, it is a freeze on providers

The man in the video is dealing with a very sick relative, so any decision that affects providers will also potentially affect people who need the services immediately. This is the first viewpoint I've heard from families dealing with access to services, so I thought it relevant.
