2 killed, child injured in shooting at Butte County Library in Chico, police say
CHICO, Calif. — Two people are dead and a child was injured following a shooting at the Butte County Library in Chico, according to police.
The Chico Police Department said there were multiple 911 calls around 5:12 p.m. reporting gunshots and there was screaming heard from within the library. When officers arrived, they entered the building through the front doors while the suspect exited from the back where a perimeter had already been established, police said.
The suspect was then taken into custody.
Police said two people were confirmed to be dead while the child was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
