Popok reports on a DC Superior Court Judge rejecting calls by the DOJ to set a high bond for former Olympian Davey Hearn accused of "felony" destruction of the Reflecting Pool, and also let him walk out the front door of the courtroom without a bond and with no restrictions to his future visits to the Pool!

The white conservative society in this country is becoming too predictable. What did they do in the South in the past, all too often? Each time they needed a fall guy, they blamed a luckless black child or man. Just think of how many generations of white conservatives lived their lives knowing that the wrong person took the blame for their wrong-doing and they got away with it. Over generations, it became a natural thing to do.

With Trump we're seeing the same practices being applied, but this isn't some desolate country road where they could do their horrible deeds without anyone around to ask questions. So, it is all backfiring on them. We're seeing the same shameless practices and Trump looks like a loser for using them.

his bills, and failing at everything he attempted. But he finally found his niche...government. Because there are millions of people (white people mostly) that are racists, bigots, homophobes, and phony Christians he hit the jackpot.

Any white person that grew up in the South, especially 50s and 60s knows the attitudes towards minorities....hatred, pure ass hatred. And although it was masked by white dominated society through things like religion, masons, eastern star, and employment discrimination it was soooo obvious.

And it is generational - many taught their children to hate, still do. The scope of their hatred now has expanded because of the huge influx of immigrants. Many people do not realize that in 1950, when I was born, the white population of America was 90%. And although the South was only about 75% the black population "knew their place", was truly on the other side of the tracks, and did not dare mingle with the dominant white population.

Trump grew up in that era, and although many people like myself got to know blacks, gays, at work a little and stopped attending the segregated church realized how hateful and awful the minority population was being treated...

That is the America that Trump is trying to recreate again, and admittedly he is doing a pretty good job of it. It is hard to believe the daily digression we see in our government and the silence of our representative government....but it is very real.

And it is scary...because I have seen it before...it can happen again..

Vote Blue and realize the Democratic Party is a big tent that accepts those that might not think exactly alike but have morals, integrity, and just want a better life for themselves and their families.

The only obstacle to recreating the social norms of the racist South, is that they're trying to apply the same dominance on other white Americans, who have no reason to give up the social expectations they grew up with.

I remember that era. Over the years I saw so much progress that I would never have expected such a major reversal in such a short period of time. Periodic setbacks I could understand, but nothing like what we're witnessing today.

I guess I didn't realize how many lowlifes were still lurking in the shadows just waiting for their messiah to set their hatred free. The older I get, the less I understand about people.

A specific Fox frequency?

of these people. They love to hate and they respond readily to any confirmation of their hate.

Interesting question as to why they turn their TVs up so loud. Does louder make it more true? Or maybe drown out any voices of reason?

Though I've known people who always had their TVs turned up really loud and they appeared to be shutting out everything and everyone, a great escape so to speak. It was usually men and sometimes children.

2. NBC NEWS: 'U.S. Olympian David Hearn pleads not guilty in Reflecting Pool vandalism case'

"WASHINGTON — U.S. Olympic canoeist David 'Davey' Hearn pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Thursday in connection with allegations of damage to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool."

"Hearn was arraigned in D.C. Superior Court following a grand jury indictment on a single count of destruction of property after he was accused of causing more than $1,000 in damage to the pool."

"Superior Court Judge Carmen McLean released Hearn on his own recognizance. His next hearing will be Aug. 5."

"Norm Eisen, one of Hearn’s attorneys, spoke to reporters outside court Thursday following the hearing."

“ 'Every American is at risk, and every American should be alarmed by this prosecution,' Eisen said, adding: 'Mr. Hearn is innocent.' "

“ ' It is not a crime to touch the Reflecting Pool, to touch water in the United States of America,' he said. 'This is a case that should never have been brought.' "

"A chorus of 'Davey! Davey!' echoed around the courthouse after Eisen addressed the public."

Trump couldn't get a conviction against the Sandwich Guy, and he arguably did something illegal (throw a Subway sandwich at an officer). This will also be laughed out of court.

If Pirro's even still a member of the (legal) bar, it should be revoked.

What evidence do they even have?

This is all I could find.

And what the heck is redacted?

https://www.courthousenews.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/david-hearn-olympian-lincoln-reflecting-pool-indictment.pdf

This looks like a nothingburger if that's all there is. No evidence. Was anything caught on video? Wouldn't it say it in the indictment? Shouldn't it say what the cops witnessed?

It looks like nothing, but an opinion.

And why redact?

This case is so weak that I doubt that it gets to a jury. The fact that Piro asked/demanded that David Hearn be barred from the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool was truly outrageous and stupid. I am glad that the judge rejected this idiotic demand from Piro

A D.C. judge refused to bar three-time Olympian David Hearn from the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool Thursday, rejecting a government demand hours after he pleaded not guilty to a felony charge.

Hearn, 67, faces up to 10 years in prison on a single count of destruction of property — a charge U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro brought after President Donald Trump's $14 million reflecting pool renovation was plagued by problems, including peeling paint and green algae.

Pirro claims Hearn "forcefully and violently" ripped up two square feet of the pool's new blue liner on June 19. Hearn says he touched a piece that was already peeling off and did nothing wrong.

Pirro's office asked D.C. Superior Court Judge Carmen McLean for a stay-away order — a legal demand that would have barred Hearn from returning to the pool. The judge said no, releasing Hearn without supervision or restrictions.

"The government's evidence is weak," his attorney, Mary Dohrmann, told the court.

"It is not a crime to touch the Reflecting Pool," she added.
