They figured out some of long covid in Japan:

Japanese researchers linked Long COVID to a dormant herpes virus reactivated by SARS-CoV-2 infection. This process triggers production of the SITH-1 protein, which was identified in about 70% of patients. The SITH-1 protein may contribute directly to brain dysfunction, fatigue, and depression.

Covid reactivates a dormant virus. I expect there are more such situations with other viruses.

It would go dormant then sporadically re-appear in high stress cycles.
Responded very well to amino acid L-Lysine capsules, 500 mg 2x day, With the L-Lysine starting at first sign, usually was gone by day 3.,minimal problems.
So L-Lysine became an OTC rescue for quite awhile. Been many months since I have had an attack.

Turned out to be a piece of cake compared to the subsequent 60th birthday present of widespread shingles!!!!😩
Pls. get the shot for that, people.😟

its comes back to haunt me from time to time . Stress, illness seem to trigger it. I recall an older Dr friend at the time reminding me that I had an auto-immune disease, and it will stay with me. When I got it I was out of work for over 2 months with complications.

I've had a couple of sudden out of the blue illness, unable to stand due to severe dizziness, sore throat ,unable to keep anything down including water. Staying in bed was the safest place. In a day or two it would go away. Covid tests negative. seasonal changes seem to be a trigger too.

I have eczema and had a partner with herpes, looks like I didn't catch it but those mixed together can cause herpeticum, it's quite dangerous so please everyone be safe!
