Trump speech on Thursday regarding invalid elections.

Some media reports say that Trump will claim he has new evidence that invalidates the elections of Senators Ossoff and Warnock in Georgia. And that he might claim other Dem Senators were fraudulently elected.

If he does make that claim, he will do it in order to get his SAVE Act passed by invalidating some Dem votes in the Senate.

Dem response must be swift and hard. Line in the sand stance.

He might also claim that the supposed election fraud is a national security issue so he will place monitors (ICE?) at voting sites. He might also claim on Thursday or later the need for federal agents to collect voting machines and mail ballots to "verify" the votes. I expect him to say more about penalties for states that refuse to turn over voter data to the feds.

If he says any of the things that I think he will, we have to invalidate HIS claims and refuse to tolerate his desperate grab for Senate and midterm vote control.

1. The Democratic Response Must Be The Brutal Truth: ......

"Fellow Americans, I have the sad but essential duty to you, to my oath of office, to the Constitution, and to our great nation, to say tonight that the President of the United States is a liar.

None of his allegations are fact. They are, rather, completely made up, fictions, lies, confabulations, however you would care to describe these accusations.

There was no fraud in the 2020 election. The Senators from the great state of Georgia, the state whose votes President Trump himself attempted to commit the crime of election fraud and extortion over, were elected fairly and serve legitimately.

The President of the United States either knows this and is lying to you; or he does not know this and is therefore mentally unfit to serve.

The Democratic Party will not allow any intimidation from any group aimed at American voters at their polling places. We hope President Trump does not plan to commit this crime.

The Democratic Party will not idly stand by while the Trump Administration attempts to steal your voting machines and erase your votes. We hope President Trump does not plan to commit this crime.

In this year of celebration for our 250-year-old democracy, the Democratic Party pledges to hold this Administration and the Supreme Court to the letter and the spirit of all our election laws.

For the land of the free, and the home of the brave.

Thank you. Good-night, and God bless America."

6. I agree. If he claims Democratic Senators were elected fraudulently, the response should be swift and brutal

I might even say that this was an attempted coup. Because, essentially, it is.

2. He has ZERO authority to declare a Senate election invalid.

Only the Senate can police its elections and only the Senate can expel a seated member.

This is well-settled law. End of discussion.

3. Of course he has zero authority to declare a Senate election invalid.

He also had zero authority to incite an insurrection attack against Congress.

Didn't stop him, did it?

4. Kind of different.

He incited a bunch of idiots to riot.

He can't "incite" the Senate to treat a seated member as somehow no longer a senator. It takes 2/3 vote to expel.

7. No Democratic Senators will be removed just because Trump calls them illegitimate.

That is a FACT. Fearmongering about this is not helpful. It's NOT going to happen.

Oh, and the DOJ is already 0-15 in lawsuits about turning over state voter data. They're never going to win any of those cases. More fearmongering about something with zero chance of happening.

8. I'm betting the speech will amount to little more

than a string of meaningless buzzwords stitched together into something that only vaguely resembles English. By the time it's over, even his closest allies will be left wondering what, exactly, he just said, and what they're supposed to do about it. To me, this feels less like a serious attempt to aaffect change than just another performance for his own benefit: a stage, a microphone, and an audience while he talks mostly to himself. His claims will be unsupported, his language muddled, and his "message" little more than a collection of bumperstickers designed to fire up the faithful for an hour. Then, as with so many speeches of his, the excitement fades, little changes, and the whole exercise disappears without any measurable consequence.

That's just my guess though, but I think as guesses go, it's got a better chance than heads or tails.
