Hungarian Defense Minister Romulus Ruzin-Sendy said that the country’s new government seeks to restore the trust of NATO allies and strengthen protection against Russian influence.

Ruzin-Sendy said that one of the first steps of the new government was to apologize to some allies, including Finland, whose accession to NATO was delayed by the previous Hungarian government. He called such a position unacceptable.

“We are closing the door to the Russians,” the minister said, adding that Russian intelligence services “tried to enter through the back door.”

At the same time, he noted that the government pays attention not only to the Russian-Ukrainian war, but also to the security situation in the Middle East. In his opinion, any conflicts end when governments, armies, and societies desire it.
