Trump ready to bail out farmers amid trade war squeeze, Rollins says

Source: Axios

President Trump is prepared to bail out American farmers if the trade war continues squeezing commodity exports, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said Sunday.

Why it matters: Exports of key commodities are plunging, particularly soybean and pork sales to China, threatening tens of billions of dollars in farm income.

What they're saying: "First of all, the prayer is that that doesn't need to happen — but secondly, if it does, for the short term, just as in Trump 1, we are preparing for that," Rollins told CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday.

Catch up quick: In Trump's first term, amid a smaller trade war with China, the government rolled out tens of billions of dollars in farm subsidies.

  • Those bailouts, collectively, ended up being so large that they almost equaled the tariff revenue generated.

There is absolutely NOT ENOUGH money to do any "bailouts" of farmers. NOT when you now have a trade war that isn't just with China like the first term, but with most of the rest of the world... let alone needing to give more money to Muskrat and the rest of the billionaires by extending those tax cuts for them.

Blame somebody else for the problem he created.

Right now he and Musk are trying to shut down NOAA’s climate observatory on Mt.
Mauna Loa in Hawaii which is insanity. CO2 will keep building up in the atmosphere
no matter if we record the data about it or not. The Keeling Curve is real.

Don’t forget the bailout Trump will need to make to Boeing for their lost revenue! Boeing lost 25% of their future revenue when China canceled their contracts. China has already returned one 737 from their finishing plant. Only 17 more to go for the remainder of this year.

At a certain point, if Trump consistently "bails out" farmers, it's just a government handout. They know it's coming, so they vote for him. They don't want to work. They want to get free things from the government.

    Lazy!
