'A failed administration': Leaked texts from powerful Republicans reveal souring on Trump

Source: Raw Story

April 27, 2025 10:21PM ET

Leaked texts from a group chat for ultra-wealthy and powerful people has revealed that Donald Trump is losing support even among those tech leaders who voted for him in 2024.

Ben Smith, the former media columnist of the New York Times and co-founder of Semafor, wrote for Semafor on Sunday a deep-dive about "Chatham House," described as "a giant and raucous Signal group that forms part of the sprawling network of influential private chats that began during the fervid early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, and which have fueled a new alliance of tech and the US right."

After Trump's push for out-of-the-norm tariffs, some of those in the group turn on him. But not David O. Sacks, who is the Chair of the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. In mid-April, Sacks left the Chatham House, and wrote that, “This group has become worthless since the loudest voices have [Trump Derangement Syndrome]."

Semafor reported that a fellow group member, only identified as Bryan Goldberg, replied by saying, "I'm not sure we have TDS. I think we - Republicans who supported Trump - are seeing that this is a failed administration."

Yes. If you put your plans for an American monarchy into the public stream, it you discuss your wish for concentration camps and Handmaid's-Tale-type treatment of women, you're not going to be received well.

And herein is the legacy of Citizens' United. A pack of tech bros deciding on the direction of our country, then going out and buying politicians to implement their plans.

I hope everyone reads the semafor article. Thanks for bringing it here. It's really important.

and other members of the oligarchy, actually OWN him, and I think many have been pissed with Muskrat. So they could band together and do like what (the remaining) Koch did in 2020, and "sit it out" when it comes to the elections (and funding).

I haven't had chance to read the Semafor article yet (it's fairly long) but that is the source of this story - https://www.semafor.com/article/04/27/2025/the-group-chats-that-changed-america

These tech bros are banding together without women’s voices (one was named as important to the group), without critics they deem “communists” or too liberal and admit that they banded together because there were journalists who criticized them. Sensitive egos much?

This sounds like a dangerous group operating completely outside the knowledge of most Americans. And they are happy that their discussions can be dished up to the masses on Twitter and other social media platforms in order to influence us. According to the article, they are behind the elevation of the thinking of Curtis Yarvin! They are completely without input by those who are not overly wealthy and who live on a plane more familiar to us.

In a democracy, we should be privy to discussions that are going to influence our lives. Every fiber of my being is screaming, “These are dangerous assholes!”

and did you also read about the "fight clubs" run by white, nazi-loving shitheads? Aiming to groom the young guys early into the same old misogyny and racism we've had forever... only make it much more violent.

With the addition of this new piece of information, what it does to me is make me wonder just how many different factions under a nazi banner we have roiling around in this country, and how the hell do we kick them out of the country or deprogram them?
