Karoline Leavitt Refuses to Rule Out Arrest of Supreme Court Judges
Source: The New Republic
The Trump administration is open to arresting Supreme Court judges, as White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told it on Monday morning.
You guys arrested a Milwaukee County Circuit judge for allegedly helping illegal immigrants get away, Fox Newss Peter Doocy asked Leavitt. As you guys look at other judges, would you ever arrest somebody higher up on the judicial food chain, like a federal judge or even a Supreme Court justice?
Thats a hypothetical question, again I defer you to the Department of Justice for individuals that they are looking at or individual cases. But lets be clear about what this judge did: She obstructed federal law enforcement who were looking for an illegal alien in her courthouse. She showed that illegal alien the door to evade law enforcement officials. That is a clear-cut case of obstruction, Leavitt replied.
And so anyone who is breaking the law or obstructing federal law enforcement officials from doing their jobs is putting theirselvses (sic) at risk of being prosecuted, absolutely.

We know which justices she's talking about, right? It sure isn't Thomas or Alito.

Half of this country wanted this sick fuck to have unlimited power. Now they're getting what they wanted -- absolute chaos and cruelty.

(98,503 posts)Removed from their job seems different than being arrested for a crime. Although one would hope that being arrested for a crime would result in the loss of job. Even if the person isn't convicted, they certainly would have a lot on their hands.
And if it doesn't work this way, and they are "above the law," then there is another remedy which should apply. 🚫👑

(98,503 posts)accusation which has NOT been determined in a court of law. In fact Leavitt's statements which are on behalf of the sociopath in the white house I wonder if they would invalidate any case they may have. In addition, trump and his goons are going to embarrass themselves because it will be very difficult for them to prove that the judge was hiding the accused, since he was in that court house for an entirely different matter that had nothing to do with his deportation.
As for a Supreme Court Justice, if these deviants think they can remove a Supreme Court Justice for a decision they disagree with, which is what some in that administration have threatened against the SC ruling on the way these deportations occurred without due process, there is such a thing as "Judicial Immunity".
For the question is if there was a specific crime such as fraud or theft by a SC justice, would a SC ruling be similar to the ruling they applied to the president? and even more complicated, would the sitting SC justice who is being accused be allowed to be part of that ruling against himself? There is nothing that requires SC justice to recuse themselves from a specific case.
If one look at some of the "gifts" made to Thomas and Alito by wealthy project 2025 benefactors, and the convoluted logic they used in Roe and other decisions, that comes pretty close to bribery, but who in the hell will prosecute it.

There have been cases where comments and tweets/whatever have contradicted what was being said in court.
One that comes to mind is the Trump administration's attempt to kick trans people out of the armed forces. The Trumpists lawyer said it wasn't about transphobia, but the judge called bullshit because Hegeth et al had been very clear about their goal.

(5,385 posts)You were such a hyper-partisan that you gave Donald fucking Trump immunity because you thought that was better than electing a Democratic president.
Couple with your 2010 Citizens United ruling, you have literally done more than anyone in American history to destroy democracy.
Hope it was worth it!
