Iran's Fordo Site Said to Look Severely Damaged, Not Destroyed

Source: NYT

After overnight strikes on Iran, President Trump on Sunday declared the operation a “success,” and said that Iran’s nuclear enrichment facilities were “completely and totally obliterated.” But his early public pronouncements contrast with more cautious assessments by the U.S. and Israeli militaries.

The Israeli military, in an initial analysis, believes the heavily fortified nuclear site at Fordo has sustained serious damage from the American strike on Sunday, but has not been completely destroyed, according to two Israeli officials with knowledge of the matter. The officials also said it appeared Iran had moved equipment, including uranium, from the site.

A senior U.S. official similarly acknowledged that the American strike on the Fordo site did not destroy the heavily fortified facility but said the strike had severely damaged it, taking it “off the table.” The person noted that even 12 bunker-busting bombs could not destroy the site.

The damage assessments by Israel and the United States are ongoing, and they have not made any final conclusions. The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss intelligence matters.

Who would have guessed?
Pretty sure the damage estimates will continue to decrease.

said the bombs would not penetrate the facility. He also said that the MSM isn't reporting that Iran's hypersonic missiles are making it through Israel's air defenses. The Golden Dome cannot shoot down those missiles and the defense system that can shoot them down is running short of missiles. This is why Our military has been helping shoot down Iranian missiles.

I see today that Iran has resumed shooting missiles into Israel.

The best way to assess the damage is boots on the ground not satellite imaging.

10. if their "hypersonic' missiles were so effective the damages would be far worse.

Or they just dont have that many of them. Either way, Israel isnt a closed society so we'd see massive destruction if these were SO effective.
I heard the same claims from the Russians; all they're actually doing is just firing as many of everything as they can knowing SOME will get thru.
It seems as though the same thing is happening in Israel. Nothing is 100% effective, some are going to get thru. Whats the damage? And what's next?
I'd say if Iran doesnt wake up to reality the Israelis will begin to destroy the Iranian military as a whole; starting with the Revolutionary Guard.

If its a major success to Iran there's going to be double/triple digit losses every time. There hasnt been. This isnt a war Iran can win. But its one Netanyahu should lose his office for
Iran has little to NO defense against what's sent their way. Israel does. Its up to Iran how much of their military they're willing to lose, because if this continues they're going to be hit hard. Plus, they'll continue to take out the top level people. Look how that affected Hamas & Hezbollah.

Israel is running low of missiles, so the military is trying to locate somewhere that they can replenish because the military is running low also.

BTW the colonel also said Iran has been building up their supply of missiles and drones because knew America would one day attack Iran. For the last 20 years they have thought this.

He also said boots on the ground would be a mistake, we have to remember Iraq. Iran is the 17th largest country in the world, 5 times size of Iraq. We a quack a doodle running this country and his little quacks, don't expect them to succeed.

It could be multiple strikes on the same target, hit once to take out the first 60 meters and hit a second time to penetrate to the target. The issue is, how big is the facility and how accurate is the intelligence as to where it is exactly under the mountain.Even being off by 10 meters or so could limit the damage.

14. Detonating that much explosive 19 meters away could still be devastating. We'll just have to wait and see.

He bombed them for his terrible parade and budget fuckery so they wouldn't get attention and he could get back his failed manhood. Only now Iran is closing the Straits of Hormuz - bet he never considered they'd actually go against him. He's so stupid and venal he's starting to believe his own cooked up lies.
