DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) The world grappled Sunday with the enormous implications after the United States inserted itself into Israels war against Iran with an attack that raised urgent questions about what remained of Tehrans nuclear program and how its weakened military might respond.
Some observers warned that the future of worldwide efforts to contain the spread of nuclear weapons would be at stake in the days ahead. Iran lashed out at the U.S. for crossing a very big red line with its risky decision to strike three Iranian nuclear sites with missiles and 30,000-pound bunker-buster bombs.
The U.S. has attacked us; what would you do in such a situation? Naturally, they must receive a response to their aggression, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said during a call with Frances leader, according to the presidents website.
Irans U.N. ambassador, Amir Saeid Iravani, told an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council that the U.S. decided to destroy diplomacy, and that the Iranian military will decide the timing, nature and scale of the countrys proportionate response.

(51,947 posts)diplomacy was off the table. Roosevelt declared war the next day (with congressional approval, of course).

Trump has proven to the world that the US will not honor diplomacy, treaties, memorandums of understanding, or any other agreement.
There is no line that Trump hasn't crossed. Take a look at the firefighting tanker planes that Canada supplied for use in the wildfires. It was bad enough that one was disabled by a reckless drone operator, now Canada must wonder how any reciprocity can exist in times of crisis when the US government will not commit to providing relief to aid one its own states. Slap some more tariffs and restrictions on trade. And Intelligence? Our recent track record leaves no doubt of how trustworthy we are.
Iran and the rest of the world do not need bombs and terrorism to destroy the US. We are the fish in the bowl. All anyone has to do is drop in a cheeseball and watch what happens.

Tough to negotiate with a disingenuous party.
