Judge indefinitely blocks Trump's proclamation suspending new Harvard international students

(CNN) A federal judge on Monday indefinitely blocked a recent attempt by President Donald Trump to deprive Harvard University of its ability to bring thousands of international students to its campus.
Judge Allison Burroughs of the US District Court in Massachusetts decided Trumps recent presidential proclamation was a violation of the universitys constitutional protections, and part of a retaliatory campaign the Trump administration has waged.
The White House said the proclamation against international students coming to the US to study at Harvard was for national security purposes, because Harvard wasnt properly vetting incoming scholars from other countries.
But Burroughs took the opportunity to outline her reaction to the administrations repeated attempts to cut into Harvards student body and approach to teaching.

A federal judge has indefinitely blocked the Trump administrations ban on international students at Harvard University.
At its root, this case is about core constitutional rights that must be safeguarded: freedom of thought, freedom of expression, and freedom of speech, each of which is a pillar of a functioning democracy and an essential hedge against authoritarianism, Judge Allison D. Burroughs of the U.S. District Court in Massachusetts ruled on Monday. Here, the governments misplaced efforts to control a reputable academic institution and squelch diverse viewpoints seemingly because they are, in some instances, opposed to this Administrations own views, threaten these rights.
Trump ordered a 90-day suspension on international students at Harvard, claiming that the university was refusing to share information on students that were known threats to other students or university personnel. The decision left the status of countless students up in the air, as the school has nearly 7,000 international students, making up about 27 percent of the schools student body. This is another installment of Trumps war of attrition against Harvard and foreign students whom he perceives to be anti-American.
