Tariffs drive up fireworks prices ahead of Fourth of July: Tips to save for your celebrations

Families across the U.S. area preparing for Fourth of July celebrations may need to budget more for their fireworks displays this year due to import tariffs affecting prices.

Many fireworks sold in the U.S. come from overseas, primarily China, and recent tariffs are now impacting what consumers will pay at fireworks stands.

A passion ignited: Meet Kevin Surface

Kevin Surface isn't just a fireworks vendor — he's a man who found his spark in an unexpected place. "I graduated college, I was newly sober at the time, and I was looking for something to do," Surface said. That search led to Kaboomtown Fireworks, starting with a single tent and now expanding with a second location.

Why are prices higher this year?

Surface explains that the timing of Chinese shipments is crucial to understanding this year's price increases. "It's crazy cause they got the tariffs back down, but that was right after most of the shipments came into the country, so most of the product prices that were imported this year are affected," Surface said.

Fireworks are a complete and utter nuisance and I wish they would be banned. They are horrible for the environment, they cause fires, they frighten wildlife and cause death from animals running to escape the sound, they cause PTSD issues with Veterans, and they cause domestic pets countless hours of stress.

I'd rather be a good neighbor rather than get a kick out of a quick snap, crackle and pop. I much prefer the professional drone shows!

...with the intention to celebrate the conviction of Crime Minister tR**p for the J6 insurrection. Needless to say, they never got used, although I thought about using them for conviction in hush money case. Now I'm saving them for the day he buys the big ticket to the dirt nap. Hoping I get to use them SOON!

Don't waste your money. We are now under the rule of a tyrant king again, so what's to celebrate?

Anyway, fireworks are more expensive thanks to the Trump Tax.

It's no longer a relevant holiday as it currently exists.

It should be renamed "Independence Remembrance Day" since our independence from a tyrant king no longer exists. I guess it's nice to remember what it was.

around me just went up. It's been pretty quiet so far. It's been a lot better here for the last three years. Thank goodness.

I will never forgive the Chinese for fireworks. I just hate them. And my poor little dog.

I don't think the 4th has any real meaning around here except as an excuse to set off fireworks and have a holiday.
