Julia Ainsley: ICE Detention Is 'Not Supposed To Be Punitive'

Source: crooksandliars.com

Ah, but that wouldn't project strength from our very weak president!

In a discussion about Alligator Alcatraz, Homeland Security correspondent Julian Ainsley reminds us of something important:

"The other thing i would say about this, really, is that ICE is not supposed to be punitive. Immigration detention is not supposed to be punitive. That is still on their website," she said.

"That is mandated through court orders. ICE detention is for the purpose of detaining immigrants before they are deported, or while their immigration proceedings are still going on. And that is up to the discretion of ICE whether they should detain everyone during that process.

'But it is not supposed to be like you were sentenced to time in jail, like if what you had done, if you had committed a crime and been sent to a Bureau of Prisons facility and so they're now deviating from that," she said.

The way it has has been is that Everyone nabbed by ICE is presumed guilty--of something--and handcuffed and tossed into a jail.

Obviously. Calling a detention center that implies that it's a place for criminals. How many of those who will be detained there have actually committed a crime? How many of them committed crimes that were as serious as those committed by the so-called President of the United States who sent them there?

The alliteration (Aligator Alcatraz) is just too irrestibly catchy. There are very good reasons to NOT call it after a famous prison, but I'm afraid that ship has sailed.

The two monsters like having concentration camps because they enjoy making people suffer for political gain.
