House Democrats on Tuesday demanded that the justice department release documents related to the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epsteins sex-trafficking case that mentions or references Donald Trump, citing a comment by Elon Musk after he fell out with the president this year.
The House judiciary committees ranking member, Jamie Raskin, together with 15 other Democrats sent a six-page letter to the US attorney general, Pam Bondi, accusing her of withholding some Epstein files to protect the president from any damaging disclosures.
They also called for the justice department to make public the second volume of former special counsel Jack Smiths report into Trumps alleged mishandling of classified documents, arguing that Bondi has a track record of using the justice department to protect the president.
Stop protecting your boss and former client, release the Smith report in full without redactions immediately, and publicly release all documents in the Epstein files that mention or reference Donald Trump, the letter said.

(157,317 posts)the electronic copies as "official records". And if they have paper copies, in a number of cases, they will scan them and store them on some kind of permanent storage device (before I retired, they were burned onto DVD).

(5,107 posts)However, MAGAland will still claim the docs are fakes, and claim fabrication. Who decides the truth? They do, since the Corporate Media abdicated that authority, and the SCOTUS dodges the question until the last second, then rules for Trump 6-3

(157,317 posts)and they are turning on Bondi for making a big production about "releasing the files" until she didn't.
I think this effort by Democrats is mostly for taunting purposes.

Way way way back in the day, there was this, commonly dubbed the "Paperwork Reduction Act" -
H.R.6410 - A bill to reduce paperwork and enhance the economy and efficiency of the Government and the private sector by improving Federal information policymaking, and for other purposes.
Then there was this, allowing "electronic signatures" -
S.761 - Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act
I think that was the bill that Clinton signed here in Philly in Independence Hall. A bunch of us at work walked down there and stood outside of there while he was signing and then waved at the limos when the motorcade left!

Justice matters.
(8,678 posts)And since, unlike the convicted criminal idiot, Joe Biden refused to command him about anything (respecting the DOJ so-called 'independence' from the executive interventions), so here we are.

(29,056 posts)just interview Gloria Alred. She represented one little girl who Krasnov raped at Epstein's mansion. There was a witness, interview her if she is still alive.
Dems may be afraid to take that route, it isn't just Congressional Magats who fear Krasnov, death threats are scary.

This had better be more than just a stupid "list."
