House Democrat Urges MAGA To 'Imagine Who Gets Killed' In Deadly Strikes If AOC Was President

Source: Huff Post

Oct 29, 2025, 08:49 PM EDT | Updated 5 hours ago

Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn.) on Wednesday excoriated President Donald Trump for “illegally” striking the boats of merely suspected drug-runners in Pacific and Caribbean waters, and warned supporters that it sets a dire precedent they might not appreciate in the future. Himes appeared on MSNBC’s “Chris Jansing Reports” to discuss the controversial strikes, which began in early September and have killed at least 57 people that the Trump administration maintains were all trying to smuggle narcotics such as fentanyl into the U.S.

Jansing played a clip Wednesday of Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) claiming earlier in the day that most Americans support Trump in these strikes. The conservative also rebuked Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) on Monday for calling them “sanctioned murder.”

“If Lindsey Graham and other Republicans want to go the route of saying, ‘It’s OK to kill people illegally, just so long as the American public supports it,’ the American public needs to really think that through,” said Himes. “There will be a Democratic president someday.”

He continued, “And all my MAGA friends who are cheering on these illegal killings need to imagine who gets killed when President Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says that it doesn’t matter what the law says, she’s going to do what she’s going to do.” The Connecticut Democrat has joined a burgeoning chorus with his criticism, which was clearly aimed at the pro-Trump nature of support for the strikes — and not at Ocasio-Cortez.

Rep. Himes could have said instead that most fentanyl comes through Mexico and not Venezuela, so Trump is most lijely having innocent fishermen killed by playing his political games.

since AOC has been a continual thorn in the GOP's side and they have been whining about her for years.

The only thing that their feral animal minds can process and comprehend based on their own behavior, is someone "doing to them" what they "do to others".

I can’t imagine being bitter over someone actively visiting red parts of the country trying to sell progressive politics. The hate and racism she deals with from the right is bad enough. Now she gets it from the “left”.

and she strikes fear in them.

This is the only way to get through to their hypocritical bullshit.

It's the "imagine the shoe is on the other foot" dig.

IMHO - it establishes how much they would fear her due to her endless persistence in calling them out time and time and time again.

No "sound bite" that they have hurled at her since she first took off in January 2019, has made any difference.

She has only grown stronger and more respected over those ensuing years and there is nothing they can spout that will change that.

That is why she is feared.

They took down Cory Bush, Katy Porter, and Jamaal Bowman but she is still there. They are determined to take out Jasmine Crockett by trying to draw her seat out of existence. But AOC is still there.

Embrace the mindset here.

It's just like how DU had a ridiculous freak-out over the term "woke". We need to go dark and attack their perceived weaknesses.

I understand it's just musing but the fact this particular muse arises reflectd that she's a rising star.

I may not agree with everything she says and does - I never do with any Democrat I support - but I greatly admire her intelligence, toughness, courage and the depth with which she loves our country.

I may not live long enough to have an opportunity to vote for her, but I hope my sons will.

...like the evil Turnip is doing, but that cheering on this lawless action by the President would set a precedent where a President AOC could justify some other action so long as the American people supported it.

It would be quite overboard for any Democrat to say that a Democratic president would engage in the same lawless murderous behavior--therefore I do not think that is what he was suggesting.

Yes, he was inartful in getting his point across. That is always a danger on live TV. But to read into his comments that a future President AOC would kill people in illegal strikes is really going too far IMO.

Pointers toward fairness and self-recognition of hypocrisy will not land on such people, especially when couched in displeasing hypotheticals.

Guess who else won't get the message? The media.

Seems completely unnecessary.

I understand the point he’s trying to make, but there is no need to drag AOC or other democrats into it. Besides it doesn’t make sense to imply that a democratic president would behave this way anyway.
