Finnish police seize ship suspected of sabotaging undersea cable

Finnish police have detained a vessel suspected of damaging an undersea telecoms cable running from Helsinki to Estonia across the Gulf of Finland.

The cargo vessel, the Fitburg, was sailing from St Petersburg to the port of Haifa in Israel, under the flag of St Vincent and Grenadines.

All 14 crew members were arrested after the cable owned by Finnish telecoms operator Elisa was damaged. The operator said in a statement that the damage had "not affected the functionality of Elisa's services in any way", and that its services had been re-routed.

The detained crew members were Russian, Georgian, Kazakh and Azerbaijani, police added.

I doubt they would admit it, but they clearly have motive and means to cut the cables. They could also simply drag an anchor to damage the cables.

7. I asked a Russian friend

what was the buzz with what his friends and relatives were saying back in Russia......

He tells me that the Russian Citizens are laughing their asses off at how easily Putin has played Trump, and how easily the two of them are bringing down our economy, our beloved democracy and our constitution without starting a war with us, or Putin firing a single missile or rocket to destroy the U.S. And also, that Putin is bragging to them, about how much he helped the Republicans win the elections.

Limbaugh used to give Russian talking points and now Fox News, other right wing talkers, and the
Republican Party repeat and amplify Russian misinformation in order to hurt America. Men are under
attack, the threat of transgender people, the threat of DEI, the attack on traditional values, and so on.
Most of the anti COVID vaccine and anti science stuff starts from Russia along with web sites that
promote phony groups such as “Americans for MAGA” which are based in foreign countries but in the
end they can be traced back to Storm 15-16 and Russia.

The Russians must have been laughing their asses off when Trump rolled out the red carpet for Putin
on a U.S. Military base in Alaska.
