DOJ agency claims it has no records of Trump's shady IRS settlement

Source: Raw Story

June 11, 2026 9:50PM ET

A Department of Justice division claimed it had no records related to President Donald Trump's IRS settlement, a watchdog reported.

According to Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), the DOJ's Civil Division came up empty-handed when responding to a request for records related to the settlement that led to Trump's $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund.

The $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund came out of a settlement in the case Trump v. IRS, a $10 billion lawsuit over the leaking of the Trump family and organization's tax returns. CREW filed the request to see DOJ documents related to the settlement that created the fund, but "DOJ's Civil Division claims to have no record of so much as being notified about Trump's case," the watchdog reported.

CREW was expecting some paper trail, given the amount of money involved and the fact that it was the first time a sitting president had sued and settled a case with their own administration.

interest and penalties are compounded daily.

Just not for Dozy-Dementia-Don, his family, and his billionaire pals. They get the gold mine, we get the shaft. (All apologies to Jerry Reed.)

A presidential pardon can forgive criminal liability and fines for federal tax evasion, but it cannot forgive the underlying civil tax liabilities, penalties, or interest; the pardoned individual would still have to pay back taxes and civil debts owed to the government. Essentially, Trump illegally pardoned himself for his IRS tax liabilities.

In all likelihood, Trump will also issue a presidential pardon to himself before his term is over. That's illegal as well, but he'll do it anyway.

that a President can't pardon anyone that's committed crimes on his/her behalf or while working in their administration during the time the crime was committed.
Otherwise it's the textbook definition of corruption.

If the President can pardon people who commit crimes in his name, then he's no different from the criminals he pardoned. He's simply the crime boss who has his underlings do his dirty work.

This is not the first time that a corrupt Republican President has pardoned a ton of corrupt Republican Party criminals.......

Over a hundred of Reagan's administration were indicted for Felony criminal conduct, and awaiting trial, at the end of his second term.....HWBush, his first day as President, issued sweeping pardons to all of them and other lesser degenerates from the past eight years......

Wink, wink. Nudge nudge.

Yup. This one won’t make it past the expiration of this Administration’s term. If nothing else, there should have been a settlement agreement.

From the article:
"Given the extraordinary way this case unfolded, a settlement of this magnitude leaving no trace in the files of the divisions typically responsible for it is yet another striking confirmation of the irregular, collusive process that produced an enormously corrupt result," CREW wrote.

If there is no trace, then there is no case, and there can be no transfer of funds. Problem solved. I was going to say "case settled", but there doesn't seem to be one. This is totally crazy crap, and some folks need to see time behind bars! Hell, give him an IOU from the Easter Bunny and call it good.

There was no 'settlement' because there was no 'case'. The presiding judge made this clear at the time.

Therefore there are no legal records as this was simply an extra-legal theft by crime boss DJT
