Earlier this week, Horizon AFA Flight Attendants voted 99.8% to authorize a strike sending a clear message that Flight Attendants are ready to do whatever it takes to back up our negotiators. Flight Attendants turned out one of AFAs highest participation rates in the vote at 94.4%, motivated especially by pushing back on management delay tactics and outrageously low economic proposals.
Flight Attendants announced the results of their resounding vote on the picket line in PDX and SEA, and well be back on the line until theres a contract we can ratify.
Our 99.8% vote shows Horizon and Alaska management that we will do whatever it takes to get the contract we have earned, said Lisa Davis Warren, Horizon AFA MEC President. We have dedicated our lives to Horizon and the communities that we serve. We are simply asking for the pay, benefits, and improvements we have earned. But Horizon management seems uninterested in resolving this dispute or showing the slightest concern for frontline workers who cant afford rent or other basic life necessities.
Flight Attendants at Horizon and other regional airlines across the industry fly the same routes and provide the same service as mainline Flight Attendants. Its time they are recognized for their critical contributions to Alaska-Hawaiian, said Sara Nelson, AFA President. There is no reason these negotiations should take a minute longer. Flight Attendants deserve a living wage contract now.
