Access to a Common Abortion Medication is Safe - for now
Earlier this month, an appeals court again barred mifepristone – a common and safe drug used in abortion care – from being prescribed and sent to patients via U.S. mail.
Later that day, the Supreme Court temporarily froze that decision and lifted the ban.
We are thrilled that our highest Court ruled in favor of reproductive rights. But we’re still gravely concerned that our basic freedoms can be taken away and returned on the whims of different judges and courts.
It’s clear that Republicans are still willing to ban abortion through any avenue they can: banning medications from being sent through the mail, requiring unnecessary admitting privileges for doctors and clinics that perform abortions, funding anti-choice crisis pregnancy centers to misinform and manipulate patients from knowing their full choices, and more.
