1) Try to eat healthy foods

2) Try to maintain a daily exercise routine

3) Deep breaths and remind yourself that it's only temporary; IT WILL PASS! Say it out loud.

4) Have some calming music and/or some interesting podcasts or other engaging programming on hand to try to occupy your mind. Sometimes it's best to listen to it through ear buds so it's more consuming.

Be easy on yourself. Panic can go just as quickly as it comes. Hopefully it won't bother you for long.

I have reflux too. I take a couple of prescription meds but sometimes get it anyway.

What helps me:

Tums. Avoiding carbonated drinks. Avoiding sour and spicy foods. When it happens at night, taking a couple of Tums and sleeping sitting up.

Good luck and feel better.

You can also put a hot water bottle on your tummy. Many of us build up stress in our tummies and you can get relief with heat treatment.

Try the slow, deep breathing.
Two versions

4-7-8: breathe through the nose if possible in for 4 secs, hold for 7, breathe out for 8.

4-4-4-4:
4 secs in, 4 secs hold, 4 secs out, 4 secs hold// begin again.

If you can also do this while "belly breathing" your chest is relatively moving a little while your belly is expanding w the breathing in/out.

Just thinking putting your hands gently on your belly and feel it rise and fall is kind of centering.

Lots of times it is helpful.

The most relaxing music for you. Preferably with ear buds to have it "close to your brain/mind" so to speak. Push away the panicky thoughts.

Good luck.
