The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsGood morning my groovy DU family,
It is with respect and reverence that I ascribe groovy to you. You didn't just protest against Vietnam or stand up against intolerance and discrimination.
You created the soul of a generation that redefined America, and defended everything she stood for with eyes and hearts of 💕 love
In my note of gratitude, let me also wish all of you a day filled with that same purpose, hope and idealism that helped you pave these roads for people like me.
Thank you,
Love, John

(3,300 posts)Covid seemingly devastated the ranks in SS adjudicators. In Illinois, they lost 65% of them.

I hope you and Rich survive two more of these hot days, then the most amazing relief is in sight.
I will never be more grateful for a cold front than I will be on Thursday.

I just saw awesome MiHales video today in your post. Listened and watched and stared at the monitor screen and absorbed the words and moreso intense, profound, sad, all-encompassing images from that period in our lives. We who lived through those troubled times. And came through with holes in our souls, broken hearts and frustrated restless spirits to pick up pieces of our dreams and move on. To keep on truckin' not knuckling under to societal pressures to conform, to make money to make war but not love. To cheat thy neighbor crave capitalism boast greed is good work our bodies to the bone for peanuts with which to spend spend spend enriching uber-rich aristocrats while our short poor precious lives slip away one damn day at a time
Unless, unless we wake up see not the forest for the trees, but focus protest dying chopped down trees in the forest, mourn melting glaciers, rue regrets make amends re-build relationships seek solace in silence unplug the idiot box (remember the mantra Kill Your TV?) read read read exercise the mind the body which will not last forever PUT PEOPLE B4 PROFITS keep cleansing our inner beings resist selfpromoting muckmuckmuckety muck muddy media keep communication alive uplifting eyes to the sky see, really see the stars stay grounded in goodness.
And maybe we make it. Stay alive.
(see the forest for the treesto be unable to get a general understanding of a situation because you are too worried about the details)

(3,300 posts)I tapped into something so meaningful to so many. I've always said I was born 10 years too late.
I've always identified as a "Hippie"
Please reawaken that spirit in as many as we can as I believe our lives literally depend on it.
In closing, please remember, that it is always you that gives meaning to my posts, and for that, I feel honored, blessed and moved.
Thank you again.
