Related: About this forumHere's the last quilt I made. It's unique in that the kimonos are
folded like in origami.

(26,568 posts)How long did it take? Did you fold the mini kimonos yourself?
I wish I could commission one. I lived in Japan for 2 years, and have very fond memories of my time there.

(55,084 posts)It took me a month to pick out all the fabrics and accents. Each kimono only takes a 5" by 20" strip, with the obi and tails using a 5" by 12" strip. I folded all the kimonos and 'framed' the background pieces, sewed the rows, and quilted it by machine in 3 weeks.

(2,548 posts). . . that someone knows how to hang a quilt correctly.
The quilt is gorgeous and looks perfect.
My wife is a hand quilter, every stitch by hand, learned quilting from her mother and the other ladies at her church in rural Alabama. Now, at age 80, with arthritic fingers, she's pretty much done quilting. She is a nut about quilts that are not hung correctly. If it's true that the one who dies with the most fabric is the winner, then, she's in first place.

(12,904 posts)I love the piecing and the fabric/color choice on the kimonos. And the tiny dark borders around each kimono
very nice!
I am just cutting out a new lap quilt. Very modern, sort of row quilt, with only 3 fabrics. Very unlike me
I usually throw the kitchen sink at it. I actually dreamed the pattern Im using one night.
I hope it turns out as pretty as yours.

I'm loving all these different kimono patterns;
Shown off separately with the framing devices.
Kudos to your choices, and talent! 👏🏆
