Call me crazy but I actually prefer this version to the Mamas and the Papas. The original has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid but this version actually gives me chills and I really feel the longing for the California sunshine. Only negative is they didn't have a real flute in it.

(3,097 posts)The intro seems to me to be written for sitar though, and I would like to hear an English horn, a fifth lower, or now even a lupophone an octave lower, playing the melody starting about 1:30.

(1,944 posts)I'm going to have look that one up. I've watched a bunch of the School of Rock videos. Some are great some maybe not for me but the talent of these kids is impressive no matter what.

This song will probably stick in the recesses of my brain, in my auditory cortex, forever!
It used to be a reoccurring earworm for me for no reason that I could figure out. At least it's a nice one!

(1,944 posts)It's been a recurring one for me since I was a kid. That's why I had to check this video out when it first showed up on my Recommended Videos list on YouTube. Glad I did. It hooked me enough I had to write a whole article about it, well mostly about the singer of this version. (shameless self promotion)

I hadn't heard of the School of Rock (company), but now I can learn about it.
