1. Game Changer

Suddenly keys were cool in heavy rock.
I played this when it was new.
A few months into playing it, the guitar player hurt his right middle finger at work.
He could play ok, but couldn't do the tapping because of the pain.
So, for 4 or 5 gigs, I had to play both the guitar & keyboard solo.
I had already been messing with the solo, so could it well enough after a couple days. Still pretty hard, though.

2. I think the coolest thing about "Jump"...

…is the radical key change going into the guitar solo—C major to Bb minor (!), and then back to C. (The chromatic meltdown during the keyboard solo is also pretty cool).

It’s a dramatic harmonic shift into a not-so-guitar-friendly key, while also being a bit of a musical pun—it occurs just as DLR yells “Jump!”.
