Related: About this forumClouds added a sense of mystery to the partial eclipse
Dark clouds obscured the eclipse during the 3-4 minutes that the moon covered 91% of the sun. While I didn't get any useable exposures during the peak, I'm not disappointed. Hope you enjoy these shots.
After reading some of your responses, I think this one needs some explanation. I took this with my filterless backup camera when the light had a spectral quality--the eclipse's half-light--which is distinct from the change in light when a cloud covers the sun. I took several other shots trying to capture the spectral light, but this is my favorite, partly because it reminds me of the celestial clouds in the "Blessing from the Lord" scene in the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
I held a pair of grill tongs in front of the lens and this is the baffling result.
Taken five minutes before the end of the eclipse. There are two sunspots visible.

What a great experience, eh? It seemed like that last skinny little sliver took forever to disappear. And, poof, it was all over with so fast! TY for sharing your photos.

I cannot explain the grill tong photo, but I think it's fantastic!
Thank you for sharing.

(6,495 posts)The grill tongs image remains a mystery. My bass-ackwards attempt at forced perspective resulted in something completely different.
