Upon returning after five days I found on my back deck: an overturned and broken flowerpot, a deeply excavated planter, scattered potting soil, and a multitude of muddy paw prints on the deck's railings.

I believe the phrase "bright-eyed and bushy-tailed' was probably coined in reference to squirrels.
