Related: About this forumHoarfrost morning
It was below freezing last night and into this morning. Fog was forecast. Fog wasn't too bad because a lot of the moisture froze out of the air. To my benefit. Here are afew from today's dog and store walk. Testing the close focus of my new lens.
Our street.

(1,250 posts)Nice detail capture of the ice formation at the edges of the ice crystals in the close-up photography. What kind of a lens is this new lens?

(6,073 posts)I got it used from Calumet. For my D5200 (DX) 18-300 3.5-6.8
It isn't much bigger than the 18-105 3.5-5.6 And has the ssame front diameter. It is supposed to focus down to 15ish inches.
I wanted something a little longer than the 105 to get better architechtural details here in Europe. This should help and it wasn't an arm and a leg.

(6,073 posts)I'll have to get out in the spring with a tripod to play with DoF
I got it used so not really too pricy.
Nikon 18-300 f3.5-6.8 DX
Not really any bigger and heavier than the 18-105 I was using.

(1,250 posts)I use Pentax gear for photography and astronomy. One of these days, I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and get Pentax's fabulous 200 mm Macro lens.

(4,770 posts)The blue bus sign (?) is a gentle reminder that it is not a black and white photo -- it is a landscape in which only light and shadow remains.
It also reminds me that I hate being cold!

(6,073 posts)is there telling people that Pedestrians and cyclists share the path that continues.
The road ends in a cul-de-sack. Right past the low building is our Biergarten, dangerous location. When you head left we go to a park that we walk the dog in.

(16,834 posts)Really like the close up photos. My area of the country had five straight days of morning and sometimes afternoon fog, but we were above freezing the whole time.
