(9,752 posts)most photographers poo poo using the 2X converter, but it suits my needs with plane photography too. an airplane at 3-4 miles presents a very small object to focus on at lower focal lengths. i haven't had the combination off the camera since I purchased them. I do have other cameras with different lens, which lets me change cameras instead of lens. Those photos with the doughnut ring flaw mirror lens, I use a Nikon Df built to use a dumb lens
